Job Vacancy – Trainee/Improver Commercial Catering Engineer

  • Job Title: Commercial Catering Engineer – Trainee/Improver
  • Hours of work: Full-time (42.5 hours per week Monday to Friday) plus standby cover. Flexibility is required to work additional hours to cover out of hours and weekend call-outs.
  • Salary: Dependent on experience
  • Job Location: Our main office operates from Barnsley, South Yorkshire. The successful candidate will be required to travel to various locations to cover our geographical areas of operation, which currently include; Yorkshire and the Humber, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and the North-East of England.

About the Job Role:

We are seeking a Trainee/Improver level Commercial Catering Engineer with an excellent work ethic and customer service skills to join our well-established, friendly team of qualified engineers and service operatives.

You will work at various customer sites across our geographical areas of operation to carry out installations of new kitchen equipment, and preventative and reactive maintenance of a wide range of commercial catering equipment.

You will be an effective team player, and will work closely with our experienced Commercial Catering Engineers, who will offer training and guidance to help you develop in your role.

Required Skills and Experience:

Essential Criteria:

  • Be able to demonstrate basic knowledge and experience of working in a similar trade industry
  • Knowledge and Experience of working with hand tools and power tools
  • Basic knowledge and experience of working with electrical items
  • Problem solving/diagnostic skills
  • Basic knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and ability to undertake risk assessments to carry out tasks safely
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Willingness to undertake training and development in relation to the role
  • Able to listen to guidance, follow instructions and seek clarification where necessary to ensure safe and efficient practice at all times
  • Ability to work under the supervision of experienced Commercial Catering Engineers and respond positively to feedback

Desirable:

  • Previous knowledge and experience of working within a Commercial Catering Engineering industry would be of advantage; however, training will be provided.

Additional Requirements:

  • Full Driving License
  • DBS Check
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

You will demonstrate a good level of knowledge and experience to enable you to work independently, on your own initiative, and also be a key team player with excellent communication skills to ensure the smooth and efficient running of our business.

  • Gas accreditations – COMCAT 1, 3
  • Gas Safe Registered
  • Previous experience of working in the industry as a Commercial Catering Engineer
  • Ability to demonstrate a comprehensive level of product knowledge/training on commercial catering appliances
  • Proven knowledge of electrics
  • Problem solving/diagnostic skills
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and ability to undertake risk assessments to carry out tasks safely
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

Desirable:

  • Gas accreditations – COMCAT 5
  • Experience or background of working with refrigeration
  • Experience of installing and commissioning catering equipment

Additional Requirements:

  • Full Driving License
  • DBS Check
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
