Job Vacancy – Commercial Catering Engineer

Job Title: 

Commercial Catering Engineer

Hours of work: 

Full-time (42.5 hours per week Monday to Friday) plus standby cover. Flexibility is required to work additional hours to cover out of hours and weekend call-outs.

Salary: 

£36,000 - £42,000 (Dependent on experience)

Job Location: 

Our offices operate from Barnsley and Sheffield, South Yorkshire. The successful candidate will be required to travel to various locations to cover our geographical areas of operation, which currently include Yorkshire and the Humber, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Leicester, Peterborough and the North-East of England.

About the Job Role:

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Catering Engineer with an excellent work ethic and customer service skills to join our well-established, friendly team of qualified engineers and service operatives. You will work at various customer sites across our geographical areas of operation to carry out installations of new kitchen equipment, and preventative and reactive maintenance of a wide range of commercial catering equipment. You will demonstrate a good level of knowledge and experience to enable you to work independently on your own initiative, be a key team player with excellent communication skills to ensure the smooth and efficient running of our business.

Main Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repair of commercial catering equipment
  • Install and commission commercial catering equipment; including carrying out kitchen refurbs and project works as required.
  • Diagnostic and fault finding on commercial catering equipment - key skill ware washing and combination ovens
  • Provide comprehensive reports via BCS and customer electronic worksheets and ensure accurate recording of journey and site times
  • Maintain a good level of van stock to achieve first time fix targets
  • Represent the company out in the field and on customer premises, providing excellent customer service, listening to customer needs, and keeping customers/site contacts informed and updated throughout works
  • Liaise with the Service Team to ensure jobs, in particular follow-on works, are planned safely and efficiently within SLA timescales and budgets
  • Provide an on-call, out of hours (evenings, weekends and bank holidays) standby service on a rota basis; to respond and attend to urgent customer breakdown requests
  • Maintain professional conduct, adhere to BCS policies and procedures, and maintain the confidentiality of the business at all times.
  • Other duties commensurate with the post as required.

Required Skills and Experience:

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience of working in the industry as a Commercial Catering Engineer
  • Ability to demonstrate a comprehensive level of product knowledge/training on commercial catering appliances with emphasis on combination ovens and ware washing equipment.
  • A high level of competency of fault finding on ware washing and combination ovens across a variety of manufacturers. (Additional training will be available).
  • Proven knowledge of electrics
  • Problem solving/diagnostic skills
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and ability to undertake risk assessments to carry out tasks safely
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

Desirable:

  • Gas accreditations - COMCAT 1, 3, 5
  • Experience or background of working with refrigeration
  • Experience of installing and commissioning catering equipment

Additional Requirements:

  • Full Driving License
  • DBS Check
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
